AmberHoffHeadshot_edited.jpg

Amber is a systems-trained Marriage and Family Therapist who has focused her career on education, prevention, and treatment of trauma. She believes that preventing and healing trauma needs to be addressed in many contexts: schools, workplaces, community, families, and not just in the individual. She has dedicated her practice to educating, volunteering, providing therapy, and working with various professional services such as architecture and interior design in order to create a more trauma-informed community and reduce the risk of trauma-related disorders.

Amber opened her private practice, Sound Mind Therapy, in 2017 in her hometown of Marion, Iowa. She became certified in EMDR in March 2018, serves as an Ambassador for the Marion Chamber of Commerce, and is part of several committees including the Marion Youth Coalition- Parent/Community Education, Resilient School Community Committee, and a community committee designed to bring more effective communication and cohesion to the city. She has worked to provide trainings to local businesses to introduce trauma informed care into the workplace, as well as create more mentally healthy work environments for employees. She has also been working to ease trauma impacts on the community by providing trainings to first responders to reduce the likelihood of PTSD and other trauma disorders in these populations.
